Get ready for annoying ads with Free Spotify If there’s a blue shuffle icon next to the playlist title, you may only shuffle songs. These include popular editorial playlists, such as “RapCaviar” and “Alternative R&B,” and playlists algorithmically tailored to your listening preferences such as “Discover Weekly,” “Daily Mix,” and “Release Radar.” The songs on these playlists change frequently. I hope Spotify and other companies take note of how you can create what I call a "PWA+" on Windows 10, meaning a PWA that is wrapped into a UWP application and then enhanced with Windows 10 features.There is a caveat with Free Spotify, however you can select songs for playback with unlimited skips, so long as you are listening to them from one of Spotify’s 15 curated playlists under “Made for You” on the “Home” page. Each of these tiles on the Start Menu features album or artist artwork rather than just the app's logo.Īll of the features of Xpotify add up to create an excellent Spotify experience on Windows 10. You can pin artists, albums, playlists and more. Xpotify also adds the ability to pin specific pages to the Start Menu. You can also control your music using a mini player in Compact Overlay mode or by hovering over the taskbar and controlling media. These, and other features make it easy to control your music. Xpotify supports media keys, media bar integration, and taskbar integration. Xpotify adds many Windows 10-specific features that make it a better experience than just using the PWA, and in my opinion, a better experience than using Spotify's desktop app. Thankfully, that's not the case with Xpotify. When I reviewed Pinterest's PWA in the Microsoft Store, I pointed out that it was essentially the same as Pinterest installed through the browser.
